Thanksgiving at the Dorros' Headquarters

I thought this might be easier for everyone involved. Having one place to go where you can sign up for dishes and ask questions about Thanksgiving at the Dorros'. (Please keep in mind that this site is open to the public, so no personal information should be given, for example; address and phone numbers.)
I will check the comments and make changes to this list as they become unavailable and move them down to the list below "Our Thanksgiving Menu". I figure this way, I don't have to bug everyone with e-mails each time there is a change. I also have some great recipes, so if you would like to make one of the items below, and don't have a recipe to speak of, let me know by making a comment and I'll get back to you with it.

Thanks to everyones help, our Menu is complete!

Updated Garden Pictures

This is the small garden we had last year, this year it is our lettuce, spinach, onion, carrots, beets, and radish garden. If you look closely you'll see a few things, my two garden helpers, Ryan's rain water capture system, and my method of scaring those nasty birds away (I ran string with and hung old Cd's from them;) It looked pretty funny but it seemed to work. I took the Cd's all down a week ago because the plants are big enough to fend for themselves.

Our Squash Garden

We've had to replant most of the squash, because the starling birds ate down the starts all the way down to the ground. The pumpkins on the far left of the photo are the only ones that made a comeback. I think next year we will skip starting them in the basement and just purchase the starts. It's all about trial and error, right?

The garden patch closest is mostly tomatoes. Three rows are Roma which I'm hoping to can into yummy homemade spaghetti sauce. One row is specialty heirloom tomatoes.

The next garden has a row of specialty tomatoes, like Green Zebra, and Stripy. Then the next was going to be broccoli, but it all died. Then we noticed in our little garden that we had last year that we had a bunch of "volunteer" tomatoes, they had reseeded themselves from last year. I knew we didn't need anymore tomatoes but we had the space, and we had the plants so we have another row of surprise tomatoes. Then we have a row of peppers, and eggplant.
Now going along the chain link fence on the right down both of these patches is cucumber, snap peas and soybeans.

In the back along the chain link fence we got some old wine barrels, Ryan cut them in half and they make great garden beds for our pole beans.

Spring = Tulips

I Love, Love, Love Tulips!
These are in the back of our house and I think this fall I will be moving them to the front. They are amazingly big, bold and beautiful!

Ryan say "your tulips need some V8"
I looked at him funny until I saw them from this angle.

I wish this picture could show you the size of the tulip head, they are the size of a baseball.

They dwarfed the tree they are surrounding.

Mother's Day

Mother's Day 2009

What a great day! And it turned out to be quite the photo op. Here are some of the treasures that were taken. Ryan and the kids totally spoiled me with a pair of diamond earrings. Three years to the day he gave me my first pair. But this year he gave me ones that are perfect for me to leave in on a daily bases, since it turns out I'm not one for accessorizing. It was very thoughtful.

I can see the Man appearing through my little boy, right before my eyes.

Rhys what a character..... we are going to have one wild ride.... and I'm looking forward to the journey.

My sweet, sweet Kay!
I hope she will one day grasp how special she is.

MY HUBBY! Manning the grill for twenty people and doing an amazing job. Thank you for a special day!

Easter

The weather wasn't exactly warm, but it stopped raining long enough for us to do a quick Easter egg hunt. Gompy Rod's back yard is the perfect hunting grounds.

Hannah and Noah, always dressed for the party

Happy kids!

Hannah and KayLeigh have such a great time together.

Spring - Let's get outside - April

Give Jack a pile of rocks and he's a happy boy, he don't need no stinkn toys.

Rhys on the other hand is on the go. That's Go Go Go. He loves his car and has been know to just sit in it for a whole ten minutes, and for Rhys that is a very long time to just sit. Maybe he was sitting in hopes of going somewhere.

The boys have discovered the little crawl space under the slide and they will play in their little fort peacefully for sometime. It is very nice.

The neighborhood kids playing Duck Duck Goose. Rhys is trying to join in.
(Ty where is your belt!)

Some form of Green light Red Light, but it seemed that KayLeigh liked making up rules more then the original, so it got very interesting.

School Pics

KayLeigh is in second grade, and in a few weeks she will be a third grader!!!

Ty is in Third grade and has found the joy of reading!
Over spring break we had to wait outside of Costco to open so we could get the next book of the series;)

A great girls scrapbooking weekend March 5&6

My friend Jennifer and I have gone to the Portland Scrapbooking Convention every year since we started scrapping, for me that was 2002 and for JR I think 2003. When we first started she lived in Beaverton and I lived out in the sticks. I would drive out and stay with her. Now that is reversed, I live in Beaverton and she lives in the sticks with her beautiful family. We make a point of using the convention as a excuse to get together and spend the weekend doing girly things. Our wonderful husbands become Mr. Mom's and it is such a nice break for us moms. Thank you very much Guy and Ryan!

The Massive Veggie Garden has begun!

This past weekend we went out and cut into our lawn to start our huge garden. Last year we did a small trial late in the season. This year we decided to do the whole thing. Some of the seeds have been started indoors. The garden has been drawn up in great detail on my computer, and now we are just waiting for May to plant in the ground. But until then there is still lots of work to be done to turn this back yard lawn into soil suitable for our tomatoes. Oh man, my mouth is watering already.
Ty was a good little worker.

Ryan did most of the tilling, that thing is a beast.
That tiller won't win any beauty contests but man it get the job done!
Another great buy from Craigs list.

I know there is going to be a day when I can't believe these two boys could sit on my lap at the same time. Their personalities are really coming through and it is so much fun how different they are. This photo was taken in December of 08.

Here is a tribute to my wonderful Husband. He does so many things that are wonderful and I can not thank him enough. The picture itself wasn't that great, but I loved that it showed Jack in one arm, Ryan trying to do dishes with the other and Rhys with is foot up trying to climb up daddy's leg so he can be up too. Oh if we only had more hands.
